Carolyn Jarvis paints landscapes, seascapes, still lifes and animals. She particularly likes to paint ocean and vineyard scenes plein air in Sonoma County, California where she moved in 2011. Prior to that Carolyn lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, primarily in Walnut Creek. In 1996, she started painting in watercolors, a couple of years later in acrylics and now focuses on oils. Her style is colorful, loose and impressionistic.
She has shown her paintings in Sebastopol Center for Arts; Sebastopol Apple Blossom Festival Art Show; Chateau Diana Winery, Healdsburg, CA; Sonoma County Harvest Fair; Windsor Arts Council Gallery; Alamo-Danville Artists’ Society shows; Museum of San Ramon Valley; Alameda County Fair; and Save Mount Diablo’s Moonlight on Mountain event. Her paintings have been shown in Valley Art Gallery, Walnut Creek, California from 2004 to the present time. She has won awards in shows sponsored by the Alamo-Danville Artists’ Society, Las Juntas Artists, Valley Art Gallery and the 2012 Sonoma County Harvest Fair.
She took art classes for three years from Van Waldron, who had been a student of the famous Russian master painter Sergei Bongart. She has also taken workshops with Lian Zhen, Charles Waldman and Fealing Lin.
